Our Programs & Initiatives

Through education, advocacy, and direct community support, OLCC leads programs designed to address the root causes of birth inequity across Long Island.

What We Do

From doula training and mental health support to financial assistance and community wellness events – every OLCC program is built around one belief: that every birthing person on Long Island deserves safe, respectful, and equitable care.

Doula Certification Training

In partnership with Stony Brook Medicine, OLCC offers two doula training cohorts per year : equipping community members of color with the skills and certification to support Long Island families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Community Wellness Events

Throughout the year, OLCC hosts free health and wellness gatherings open to all Long Island families. These events bring together practitioners, advocates, and community members around shared goals of education, connection, and care.

One Love Fall Holiday Baby Shower

Our annual Fall Holiday Baby Shower celebrates expectant families while providing essential resources, products, and community connections. Every family deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

Community Health Advocacy Training Program

This training equips Long Island community members with the knowledge and tools to advocate for health equity in their neighborhoods, institutions, and policy spaces. Because change starts from within the community.

Perinatal Health Advocacy Training Program

Focused specifically on the perinatal period, this program trains advocates to navigate healthcare systems, identify disparities, and support birthing persons in exercising their rights : before, during, and after birth.

Doula Continuing Education Program

For practicing doulas seeking to deepen their skills, OLCC offers ongoing professional development opportunities rooted in evidence-based practice and culturally responsive care. Your growth supports your clients.

Postpartum Concierge Services

OLCC provides in-home nursing care and lactation support to families in the postpartum period who need additional hands-on assistance. Because the work doesn't end at birth.

Perinatal Mental Health Support Groups

Safe, facilitated spaces for birthing persons to share, process, and heal during pregnancy and beyond. Our perinatal mental health groups center Black and Brown experiences and are offered at no cost to participants.

Fourth Trimester Support Groups

The months after birth can be the hardest. OLCC's Fourth Trimester Support Groups bring together new parents in a warm, non-judgmental community space — offering connection, resources, and real talk about early parenthood.

Mind-Body Integration Training

Drawing on Lasharn Ferroudj's expertise as a mind-body integration specialist and herbalist, this training explores the connection between emotional wellbeing and physical health — offering participants holistic tools for self-care and healing.

Development Training

OLCC invests in the growth of community health workers, nonprofit leaders, and advocates through structured professional development programming designed to build capacity and strengthen the ecosystem of care on Long Island.

Birth Fund

No family should be turned away from the birth they deserve because of finances. The OLCC Birth Fund provides direct financial support to uninsured or underinsured families who need assistance covering the cost of a home birth or birth center birth.
